Terms of Service

Published 2026-10-19. For accounts created from 2026-10-19 these terms apply at once; for accounts created before, they apply from 2026-11-20 (30 days' notice, section 15), and until then the Terms of Service of 2026-10-15 apply. These terms are an agreement between Jepela Sverige AB ("Jepela", "we") and the business that registers an account ("you"). By registering you confirm that you act for a business, and that you may bind it to these terms.

1. The service

Jepela is an API that answers typed questions (choice, score, yes/no) about a state you send, with probabilities, and can keep a memory per subject that you teach it. It is a hosted service: you call it over HTTPS with an API key. The documentation at jepela.com/docs describes what it does and what it gets wrong; it is part of these terms.

2. Business customers only

Jepela is offered only to businesses, not to consumers. Consumer protection rules that apply only to consumers, such as withdrawal rights, do not apply.

3. Your account

New accounts are reviewed before their API keys work, unless you pay by card first: once your email address is confirmed, and unless we have declined the account, it is approved as soon as a card payment goes through. We may decline an account without giving a reason. A payment made for an account we decline is refunded. You keep your password and API keys secret, and you are responsible for all use of your keys until you revoke them in the console. Tell us at once if you believe a key or your account was misused. You give correct information and keep it up to date.

4. Prices and payment

Current prices are on jepela.com; today $0.042 per million input tokens, output free. Usage is counted by the engine and shown in the console. Jepela is prepaid: you add credit, and each priced request is charged against it; when the credit is used up, requests are refused (HTTP 402) until you add more, except requests that remove data (such as forget and delete), which are never refused for lack of credit and are never charged beyond the credit left. Prices exclude VAT and other taxes, which are added where the law requires. We may change prices with 30 days' notice by email; the new prices apply to usage after that date. Credit is not refunded, except when we end the agreement without cause (section 10), when we refund unused credit, or when the law requires a refund. You add credit by card on our payment provider's checkout page, or by invoice on request. For a card payment the payment provider sells you the credit as reseller (merchant of record): it adds VAT and other taxes where the law requires, sends the receipt and the invoice, and its own terms apply to the payment. If a card payment is refunded, in full or in part, the credit it added is removed in the same proportion as the part of the payment refunded; if it is disputed with your bank, the disputed part of that credit is removed while the dispute is open, stays removed if the dispute is decided in your favour or settled by refunding you, and is added back if it is decided in our favour or closed without a chargeback. A payment refunded or disputed before its credit was added is not credited automatically. Removed credit can take your balance below zero; requests are then refused as when the credit is used up.

5. Your data

What you send to the API (states, questions, memory lines) remains yours. You give us the rights needed to process it to provide the service to you, and nothing more: we do not use it to train models for others and do not sell it. Where it contains personal data, the Data Processing Agreement applies and is part of these terms. You are responsible for having a lawful basis to send us that data and for telling the people it concerns. Your data stays in the region you chose (see the Privacy Policy).

6. Acceptable use

You follow the Acceptable Use Policy. In short: no unlawful use, no use prohibited by the EU AI Act, and no high-risk use without your own compliance and human oversight.

7. Answers are probabilities

Jepela returns probabilities and a best answer, computed by a machine-learning model. Answers can be wrong, including with high confidence; the documentation lists known weaknesses. You decide what your software does with an answer, you are responsible for the decisions you make with it, and for decisions that affect people you keep a human able to review and override them.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep Jepela available and fast, but we do not promise uninterrupted service, and there is no service-level agreement unless we sign one with you. We may change the service; we give at least 30 days' notice by email before removing a documented API feature, unless security or the law requires faster action.

9. Suspension

We may suspend your keys at once if your use breaks these terms or the law, endangers the service or other customers, or if your credit is exhausted. We tell you why, unless the law forbids it. While they are suspended, your keys can still read and remove your data through the API, and nothing else.

10. Ending the agreement

You may end the agreement at any time by deleting your account in the console. We may end it with 30 days' notice without cause, or at once for a serious breach. At the end, we delete your data as the Privacy Policy and the DPA describe, except records the law requires us to keep.

11. Intellectual property

The service, its software, models, documentation and brand belong to us or our licensors. The client software we publish is licensed under its own licence. You may not resell the service, or use it to build a competing service, without our written permission.

12. Confidentiality

Each party keeps the other's non-public information confidential, and uses it only for this agreement.

13. Liability

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profit, lost data or lost business. Our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the amounts you paid us in those 12 months. These limits do not apply to liability that cannot be limited by law, such as for gross negligence or intent.

14. Your responsibility

You indemnify us against third-party claims arising from your data or from your use of the service in breach of these terms or the law.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms by giving 30 days' notice by email. If you do not accept a change, you may end the agreement before it takes effect; otherwise the changed terms apply from that date.

16. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Sweden, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes are decided by the Stockholm District Court (Stockholms tingsrätt) as the court of first instance.
