Acceptable Use Policy
Effective 2026-10-15. This policy is part of the Terms of Service. It says what you may not do with Jepela, and what you must do for uses that affect people.
Not allowed
- Anything unlawful, or helping someone else break the law, including data protection, consumer protection, anti-discrimination, export control and sanctions laws of the EU, the United States and your own country.
- The practices prohibited by the EU AI Act (Regulation 2024/1689, article 5), among them: manipulating people through subliminal or deceptive techniques to their harm; exploiting people's vulnerabilities due to age, disability or social or economic situation; social scoring; predicting that a person will commit a crime based only on profiling or personality traits; inferring emotions of people at work or in education (except for medical or safety reasons); biometric categorisation to infer sensitive traits such as race, political opinions or sexual orientation; building facial recognition databases by untargeted scraping.
- Sending personal data you have no lawful basis to process, or special categories of personal data without meeting article 9 of the GDPR.
- Attacking, overloading or probing the service, getting around rate limits or authentication, or accessing other customers' data.
- Sharing API keys outside your business, or reselling access to Jepela without our written permission.
- Using Jepela to generate or rank content that sexually exploits children, promotes terrorism, or incites violence or hatred.
High-risk uses need your own compliance
Some uses are high-risk under the EU AI Act (annex III) or are regulated elsewhere: for example decisions about hiring or employees, access to education, credit scores or insurance, essential public or private services, law enforcement, migration, or the administration of justice; and in the United States, decisions about credit, employment, housing or insurance covered by laws such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the Equal Credit Opportunity Act. Jepela is not built or marketed for these purposes. If you use it for any of them, you are responsible for meeting those rules as the provider or deployer of your own system, including risk management, data quality, transparency to the people affected, and effective human oversight: a person must be able to review and override every such decision.
Be honest with people
If your product lets people interact with Jepela's answers directly, tell them they are dealing with an automated system where the law requires it.
What happens if you break this policy
